She is the matriarch of 9 children, 46 grandchildren, 106 great grandchildren, and 3 great, great grandchildren so far. Church service assignments included countless music leadership roles, Relief Society President, Temple ordinance worker and supervisor, and senior missionary for 2 years with her husband Jack in Baguio City, Philippines. She was a member of the American Federated Women's Club and leader of the Uintah High class of 1947 reunions. Being very socially outgoing, Marva loved parties and playing card games with her family. She sang and lead the music in choirs, choruses, barbershop quartets, operettas, programs, and funerals her whole life long. Marva enjoyed quilting, hand dipping chocolates, and singing with her siblings. In researching Bell, they learned he had lived in Utahs Uintah Basin at the time of the murder and worked on a ranch in the Book Cliffs area south of Vernal, making him familiar with the areas. In 1962 she met and married Jack Lent and moved back to Vernal where together they built a large family including 4 more children. VERNAL, Utah Bird has launched a fleet of electric scooters in Vernal, and they have a special offer for front-line workers. She moved to Provo to study and graduate as a cosmetologist and used those skills to support her family. She was sealed to Morris Sorensen in 1948 in the Salt Lake temple, but became a young widow with 5 children in 1958.
She also was a member of the Days of '47 royal court. Born September 21st, 1935 in Price, Utah to Fannie Mahala Bell and Jack Smith. She emulated our Savior in her example of obedience, service, and sacrifice to her family and neighbors. Beloved wife, mother, grandmother and dear friend Marva Bell Fitts passed away peacefully Friday, August 3rd at her home in the presence of her family, after a courageous six year battle with cerebellum atrophy. Her belief in Jesus Christ was reflected in all the choices she made.
She grew into a beautiful, athletic, spunky woman of integrity. She is the youngest of the 10 children born to George Franklin and Rose Richardson Walker. Marva was born Jin a log cabin on the corner of 1500 South and Vernal Avenue. On MaMarva Walker Sorensen Lent passed into the next life.
